Rehearsals and Performances

Rehearsals are regularly scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., every Friday. Occasionally a second rehearsal is scheduled and will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This will usually happen when a special performance or trip is scheduled. Periodically special smaller groups or individuals may also have an extra rehearsal, if they have been selected.

Rehearsals are mandatory. To be excused from a rehearsal the Choir Member must:

Call Mrs. Loretta Alexander. Only, Mrs. Alexander can excuse an absence. Getting one's hair done, going to the barber shop, or going to a party does not warranted an excused absence.

It is understood that a parent has the right to not let their child come to rehearsal/choir practice but the parent cannot authorize an excused absence.

Performances

As Nia Imani continues to gain favorable publicity and becomes more nationally recognized, requests for their appearances in an out of the city have increased and will continue to increase. It is imperative that a true commitment from both the parents and the child are made and that every effort is made to ensure that the child is present for all performances.

All members of The Nia Imani Youth Gospel Choir are expected to sing every Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. This is a part of their ministry. Other performances are scheduled as they are contracted. Parents/choir members must understand that when an agreement is reached or contract is made for our appearance, we agree to bring a certain number of members. It is difficult and unfair to the choir members that have not been scheduled and therefore left off of the travel or performance list to be asked to re-schedule their personal time to take the place of a scheduled absentee. It is also unfair and a breach of our contract with those individuals/entities that have entered into a contract with us.

It is understood that a parent has the right not to let their child come to a scheduled performance. However, the parent cannot give an excused absence.
