Parental Responsibility

The role of the parents of all Nia Imani Youth Gospel Choir members is extremely important and non-negotiable. Parents are the foundation by which children are able to keep their heads above water and to have productive childhoods. Our children watch our every move and most emulate us.

Parents should ensure that children are punctual and in attendance for all rehearsals and performances. It is also extremely important that you or whomever is responsible for picking up your child after rehearsals is there on time. It is extremely disheartening to work with your child for two to four hours and then after rehearsal has ended to be left wondering where the parent is. We can understand an occasional emergency. Again, it is disheartening after a rehearsal or performance to look around and see your sons and daughters standing in front of the church unable to go home because you are not there to take them.

It is difficult is explain the consequences to children for missing rehearsals or performances when the parent is clearly at fault. However, when it becomes necessary, it will be done.

It is also the responsibility of the parents to ensure that all clothing is kept clean and the children are dressed appropriately.

All uniforms, robes or outfits purchased by Nia Imani remain the property of Nia Imani and must be returned upon request. Attire purchased by the parents belong to the parents/child.
