Nia Imani Membership Requirements

To remain a member is good standing of Nia Imani Youth Gospel Choir, it is necessary to possess and maintain certain qualities and to accept certain responsibilities. All young ladies and gentlemen accepted as a member must demonstrate respect and love for their neighbor. This respect is one demanded by our God. Members must be willing to sacrifice some other type of fun things in exchange for a commitment to make rehearsals and performances (especially Sunday services, Mass and otherwise).

As music ministers, all members of Nia Imani are responsible for displaying leadership, share experiences, and spread spiritual filled messages to other children, youth and adults.

It is expected that others will look up to you and be able to count for positive direction. It is not your right to be a member of Nia Imani Youth Gospel Choir, but a privilege.

Expectations and Responsibilities

All choir members are expected to live their lives as good Christians, Muslins, Jews, Gentiles or whatever way that depicts a good clean, caring, considerate of your neighbor type of life. It is important that even when you are not with Nia Imani, you carry yourself in such a way that makes you, your parents, your school and your community proud.

Nia Imani's mission is to live our lives as righteous human beings and  being a part of Nia Imani may mean that you accept being different from others. As a member of Nia Imani Youth Gospel Choir, you will not:

 Get into trouble at school

Use, sell, distribute or engage in activities that include or promote alcohol and other drugs, including cigarettes.

Disrespect another human being

Belong to or participate in gang activity

Engage in sexual activity

Steal or cheat

As a member of Nia Imani Youth Gospel Choir, you believe that education is important and therefore will:

Maintain Good Self-Esteem

Remain in school until graduation

Maintain passing grades in all subjects. (A copy of your semester report card must be reviewed by our staff). Failure in any subject may result in suspension from the choir.

Let our staff know, if you are having difficulty in any subjects.

As a member of the Nia Imani Youth Gospel Choir, you will live your life as Jesus, Allah or your God said and help someone else.

You will accept feedback and positive life lessons.

Conduct yourself in a manner that any other youth would want to emulate or follow.

Read a verse of scripture and pray every day.

As a member you accept the above and will be held accountable.
